Andreu World has been busy at work honing their furniture making skills and introducing new and unique seating options. The Forest Club, a collaboration with Philippe Starck is one of their latest outputs. A modular seating collection that takes molded plywood and intelligent joinery to design furniture easily broken down to reuse or recycle with ease. It is a step in the right sustainable direction and at the same time harkens back to medieval woodworking and joinery techniques in the use of an evolved clavet—a handcrafted, strong and original closure—to join the pieces of each Forest seat together, as Starck states: “Technology allows us the minimum: a few small kilos of wood, 2 pieces, 6 wooden keys, 2 cushions, for the maximum comfort and longevity.”
Forest’s molded plywood fold and hug soft and cloud-like cushions and are locked into place by clavet, easily assembled and unassembled for sustainable purpose. All of these design details garnered it a Best of Sustainability Award at NeoCon 2021. For more information, contact me.

Did you know Integra’s Coffee House collection has a mini-sized lounge output for places that need kid sized seating? It’s called CH Kids, short for Coffeehouse, and it perfectly aligns with it’s “Parent-sized” seating for a fun play and coordinate experience.
It would work especially well in pediatric waiting rooms and other kid lounge spaces…
Pair with table arms or add tablets to both so the kiddos can set their Toys and Hot Cocoa’s atop it and Parents can set their phones and morning Coffees down as needed. Be sure to use upholstery or liquid wicking textile options that can withstand the possible liquid abuse from both parties.

In the breadth of Parasoleil patterns, there are many options that can unfold into fantastical worlds... even ones reminiscent of childhood stories and fables. For Instance, the patterns Shriner©, Timothy’s Vine© and Taiga© as a trio can call to mind scenes from Disney's Beauty and the Beast...
Shriner©'s brick patterning stands steadfastly like the cell walls that Belle finds herself trapped in after exchanging her freedom for her fathers… Timothy’s Vine© evokes the Magic Rose's fragility and its curse swirling and threatening, entrancing Belle when she stumbles upon it... and Taiga© encapsulates the scary forest scenes that both Belle and her father find themselves trying to escape from.
Whether creating a specific fairy tale or a space with a playful design, Parasoleil panel patterns can add that perfect accent to projects in the entertainment and children centered sector of design… whether for an amusement park, a children’s hospital or playground or other playful space. And if you seek a custom pattern, Parasoleil is open to that, too. For more information, contact me.

Sashiko, a stitching craft used by Japanese peasants to reinforce their clothes with heavy threads and patches was the perfect inspiration for the latest Bolon release—a collaborative effort between the company and Architect/Designer, Patricia Urquiola.
Urquiola said of the collection that “I was inspired by the contrasts of Bolon’s hard-wearing qualities and the softness of woven fabrics.” The flooring evokes this tough yet soft contrast of its fabric inspiration.
The collection consists of four subtle colorways in the neutral and natural vein, making it easy to coordinate into any space wanting a flooring that functions with a soft visual appeal. For more information, contact me.

Sumi, a fabric release for Camira in 2020 was so popular due to its simplicity, it gets a color additive release of 21 colors in 2021!
The original release focused on a neutral palette, so the new colors head into darker tones and delicate pastels to bright and saturated hues.
This lightweight fabric is designed for multiple use and is approved for upholstery, vertical surfaces, curtains, drapery, and acoustic panels for any of your project design needs while meeting some of the most stringent environmental certifications.
Lynn Kingdon, Head of Creative at Camira, had this to say of Sumi’s newly released color range: “Inspired by natural dyes, we really sought to develop colours which could be created from plants and minerals and were very much in tune with the organic aesthetic of the range – and you can see this in the palette; with eucalyptus green sitting alongside indigo blue and saffron yellow accompanied by madder red, the new Sumi shades are a celebration and evocation of natural beauty.”

One of The Material Collective's own went on vacation to her island home, Oahu, Hawaii. Visiting one of the malls of her youth—Ala Moana—with her childhood friend, they were walking around and all of the sudden, she was under a cool pattern of shade in front of what used to be her favorite store turned food court and she realized she was under the work of Parasoleil—to be more specific, the Kenyan© Pattern which she had used as the intro image of the first blog about Parasoleil on The Material Collective Website after taking representation duties for the SW sector.
Later, she found herself turning the corner and into another installation, this time as a backlit panel clad to the exterior in Lemon Drop© pattern and stopped to take a pic.
As product reps/designers, you often notice products—your own and your competitors about town—even on vacation, but it’s particularly fun to bump into the product lines you rep out in the wild adding that wow factor to spaces and places. For more information on this installation, or the shade and panels used on the project, contact me.
Simplicity seems to be the driving design idea behind Andreu World’s Connect table. A training table that can be specified fixed or mobile, it’s thin line top flips and it can nestle into each other like a family hug. They can be arranged side by side for long rows, spaced apart to seat 1-2 people per or with connectors, the ability to make L/C and square configurations come to life for whatever your space needs. It’s the perfect choice for Classrooms and Training Rooms. For more information, contact me.
Check out the variety of shade designs Parasoleil offers to shelter from the heat… ‘cos as we desert dwellers know, just because Fall has arrived, doesn’t mean Fall weather has.
With the sun still blaring and temperatures still in the 90’s and 100’s shade is still very important in our lives… and welcome even when the temps do turn pleasant.
So, if you are in need of overhead shade options with aesthetics, custom shades like those pictured here are available in addition to Parasoleil’s standard line products. Head over to this link for some examples of their overhead installations, or to the main shade page for even more info on the topic of shade and as always, you can always contact me directly.
