Emerge from warm to cool

From nature’s warmer side comes Emerge’s palette of Drift, Sway and Arise

For balance, each color is a blend that has cool accents within but read warm and depending on your color scheme desires, it makes it easier to coordinate having a bit of both color qualities in each.

Introducing TMC's newest addition
Karine Daumard.jpg
20210607_101639.jpg

The Material Collective welcomes its newest partner in Repping, Karine Daumard! Karine has recently relocated to Scottsdale from San Francisco via her home country, France. She has extensive experience in multi-line sales, representing high quality and design contract manufacturers.

Screen Shot 2021-06-02 at 4.45.28 PM copy.jpg

In Karine's own words:

“I moved from Paris to Washington state in 2003 leaving behind my family, friends and paralegal profession. In 2006, I embarked on a new adventure and decided to study Interior Design. In 2011, I moved to Northern California and in 2014 I joined a multi-line representative agency; Prouve Contract Furniture. After 5 amazing years I experienced working for a larger entity, Allsteel, as a Business Development Manager. My heart and love for beautiful products and family owned companies led me to a collaboration with DCA-Reps in 2019.

At the end of 2020, my family and I decided to fulfill our dream and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. I joined Mary at The Material Collective in April 2021 and I’m happy to represent wonderful lines like Andreu World and Modern Nature Design which I have been representing in the bay area, with a focus on the Hospitality and Residential markets.

In another life, I'm pretty sure I was a Lizard as I love hot weather.

My favorite word in the English language is serendipity. I feel fortunate to have experienced a lot of happy moments that have led to wonderful personal encounters as well as discovering fantastic places in the world.

If I weren't so damn good at my job, I'd probably be a personal chef or a florist; except for the fact that I do not like being cold and flowers thrive in a colder environment!”

Sail sails into evolved material territory…
unnamed.jpg

The Sail chair is a design of versatility, strength and elegance combined, the result of a desire to design a chair that is paradigmatic. Originally developed exclusively from injected plastic, due to its simple-just-the-essentials design, it now has evolved into Two new finish options:

Leather...

and wood…

Sail is both efficient and subtle in its solid lightness—whatever finish you choose. To see all the variations of sail, go here, or for more information, contact me.

Emerge from cool to warm
unnamed.jpg

From nature’s cooler side comes Emerge’s palette of Billow, Swirl and Ripple.

For balance, each color is a blend that has warm accents within but reads cool, overall. Depending on your design palette desires, this quality makes it easier to coordinate with other finishes having a bit of both color qualities in each.

Craggan 2.0

Craggan gets a makeover that adds Flax content to formerly 100% wool output. This does many things to elevate the fabric while maintaining natural sustainability.

unnamed.png

Visually, it adds a two tone effect to the fabric and more importantly, it achieves flammability requirements for public spaces. For more information, contact me.

That back though!
unnamed.jpg

Andreu World’s Capri Executive is a chair that turns *and* turns heads… especially for that walnut backrest that makes it feel extra sophisticated… but what it’s truly known for is being first and foremost a comfortable chair to work in.

You could say the collection is the epitome of Function x Aesthetic…

A pattern for every season…
unnamed.png

It’s no secret that Parasoleil has a wide array of patterns for your shading, screening, railing and cladding needs. You could say they have a pattern for every season!

unnamed.png

This pattern set evokes nature inspired visuals that add instant interest and more—depending on installation type. The winter branch aesthetic of Taiga gives wintry vibes of walking the woods at night... the Magnolia blossoms bloom big in the Spring, Bluestems pop up from summer pineapples and bbLeaves rustle and travel on the winds wings in the Fall. If you are looking for organic and natural patterning to add to a project, contact me for more information.

Bolon emerges

Emerge is the latest collection in Bolon’s breadth of product. It is a line that is inspired by the neutral colors found in nature and woven together in color ranges that cover the gamut of warm and cool.

unnamed-1.png

The line was made to coordinate with any of their existing product lines or just use the collection alone for its neutral properties that coordinate well not only when using them in tandem, but also blend well with the actual materials that inspired its design. For more information, contact me.

Customize your Parasoleil project

In addition to a large library of standard product patterns, Parasoleil can customize per designer and client's need to create an artistic and durable experience that will leave a lasting impression in any space, indoor and/or out.

unnamed-1.jpg

Here in Arizona, you may have already experienced their custom work... If you've been to the Arizona Biltmore and have admired the patterned metal panels that clad the building. They bring a lot of unique shadows play to the grounds. Kitty's Pattern was originally a custom pattern that was inspired by The Biltmore's block design to create a pattern that coordinated with the design. The result seems as if it was a part of the original design, even though it was a newer element added in the project's expansion and renovation. If you have a project needing custom cladding, dividing or shading, remember Parasoleil product custom is a perfect product to add a finishing touch that wows. Contact me for more information.

Sumi and Kyoto... a harmonically crafted pairing.
unnamed.png

Inspired from the land of the rising sun, come two fabrics--Sumi & Kyoto, created in tandem and inspired by Japanese artistry. They evoke an elegantly refined collection of offerings that highlight an aesthetic inspired by Japanese weaving techniques. The result evokes a “less is more” fabric offering that brings a sense of calm in textile form. For more information visit the release page and/or contact me.

Plastic rethought
unnamed-1.jpg

2020 brought on a lot of changes in terms of conferences and conventions, most shut down or at best modified to be entirely virtual... A plus to this is that many are still up, and you can sign yourself up around the world and experience the lectures and exhibitions despite being late to the party. Bolon was featured at the DDW, Dutch Design Week 2020, in a show called Rethinking Plastic that paints a tale of plastic that looks to the resetting of our thoughts on the material, because it is not all bad nor black and white. One of the featured designers stated: “Maybe we just aren't using it properly.”

The exhibit features reuse of water bottles, plastic bags, clothes, and the creation of new bio-plastics from sources such as agar agar, corn, dandelions, chicory, coffee grounds, leeks and corn cobs. It also shows the range of products one can create with the material... and how it can be as thin as a textile, translucent as glass or tough yet flexible as a building material for cars, houses and how it can even be eaten by a mealworm and then turned into food... Literally food recycled from waste!

Bolon was included in the exhibition for their 70 year history of upcycling scraps into flooring and how they constantly innovate to make their product recyclable using plastics without plasticizers and other toxic materials. Always researching and implementing ways to better their product with the best methods on creating it, the most beautiful patterns and textures and means to recycle when the product has reached the end of its use.

To check out the exhibit, head over to the DDW website and sign up. Click onto the rethinking plastics link and explore the 3D showroom or the gallery that features brief synopses of all the products and designers featured with links to their websites. For more info on Bolon products, head to the website or contact me.

Mediteranean hues… brought to you by colour advisor, Giulio Ridolfo
unnamed.png

If you are following along with any of Andreu World’s social media platforms, you may have seen their Mediterranean Color Stories series, curated by former fashion designer and now sought after color advisor, Giulio Ridolfo. The series follows Ridolfo as he wanders the colors of the Mediterranean landscape that inspire the designs of Andreu World’s product line. Several of the twelve colors featured have already been released.

unnamed-1.jpg

Of the series, Ridolfo has said: “By starting to work with Andreu World on a series of colors that represented the essence of the Mediterranean, I realized that our culture, our way of living, is closely linked to handmade things, be it the activity of painting a house or cooking, because we are very attached to the colors of what we eat, to the preparation of things or the act of doing them.”

Tuck that sound absorption underfoot...
Bolon_Flooring_Create_FacioL.jpg

Usually when sound control is needed, wall and ceiling solutions abound, like baffles or ceiling panels, but what about opening that up to underfoot? If you are already using Bolon as your flooring product of choice, add their acoustical felt backing (available in 50cm tile goods only) to help absorb sound in lieu of the usual sound solution options… because maybe there’s not enough wall nor ceiling space to add those acoustical panels to. Let the floor help your design keep its sound integrity while adding extra cush. For more information or to schedule a presentation, contact me.
