Camira has partnered with Risom to bring back to life two textiles created by Jens Risom. But who is Jens Risom? A designer of furniture and textiles that helped bring the Scandinavian Aesthetic to America in the 1940s. He started his company Jens Risom Designs in 1946 and prior to that, worked with Hans Knoll to create 15 furniture designs in Knoll Studio’s first collection offerings. His designs helped to shape the Mid-Century design era along with Charles Eames, George Nelson, Eero Saarinen, and Harry Bertoia.
Camira has faithfully reimagined two designs from Risom’s textile designs, Zap & Armadillo. He has said of the furniture x textiles equation: “However beautiful the piece of furniture is, the wrong textile can change everything, and more importantly the right textile can make it perfect.” With a total of 42 fabrics in the Risom offerings get ready for options that meet the needs of today with a nod to the past.
